Frederik Louis Hviid

Frederik Louis Hviid graduated from the Danish Film School, Super16, with his wonderfully clever and funny, “HALFMAN”. The film received all around critically acclaim in the Danish press, and toured numerous film festivals worldwide. The film won a gold at Young Directors Award in Cannes, got a Staff Pick for Vimeo – and finally received a nomination for the Danish Film Academy Award 2017. Frederik was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. He began his career at Zentropa Productions, learning from the most talented directors in the industry. Always having had a desire for taking a new genre-oriented type of film to the Danish cinemas, he wrote and directed the first sincere heist-film on Danish territory, so far: “KING”. Combining visual beauty with explosive rawness, KING was nominated at Cannes, Young Directors Award and shortlisted for a Danish Academy Award, 2016. His music video, “Novembervej” from the popular duo "NIK&JAY" was awarded Best Performance at The Nordic Music Video Awards 2015, while his music video “BITTER” received a shortlist the following year. Frederik believes that creative sparks and inspiring thoughts start from setting up boundaries, while creating an artistic environment outside of our comfort zone, which we often see in his work. In 2015 Frederik was awarded with the Nordic Creative Talent Award for his beneficiary work for “BØRNEFONDEN”. Frederik recently got funding for his first feature film to be shot in Denmark in 2018.
