Emil Kahr

Emil Kahr won the Silver at the Cannes Lions Young Director Awards for his graceful and poignant Nikon spot “Until Now,” a progression from an earlier piece shortlisted for the same award. Kahr has directed projects for top brands like Nike, Cartier and Opel, and worked with agencies such as Mazarine Paris, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Grey. Recent work includes spots for Knob Creek and Thai Airways. Kahr brings a sophisticated understanding of live action direction and VFX integration from his previous work as both director and animator, starting out at Frame in Copenhagen before moving to the US and working for Brand New School and Moo Studios. “For me, it’s about making commercials that people want to watch,” remarks Kahr, now a Los Angeles resident. “It’s all about inventing new visuals and cinematic moments that will be remembered. I always try to add a bit of my Scandinavian sensibility and give the spot a touch of curiosity and magic.”
