Martin Høgsted

Director, screenwriter, comedian and actor. Meet Martin. In 2008, Martin was well on his way to a master’s degree in International Development and Philosophy when he unexpectedly won the Danish Championship in Stand-Up. That pretty much ruined the academic plan – and started a very different career instead. Since then, Martin has built a career around comedy, characters and storytelling, both in front of and behind the camera. He co-created and starred in the acclaimed comedy series Danish Dynamite, developing a distinctive voice rooted in sharp observation, self-irony and precise comedic timing. Most recently, he wrote and directed Gränsfall for Swedish broadcaster SVT. Alongside his fiction work, Martin has directed a wide range of commercials, bringing the same instinct for character, performance and storytelling to his commercial work. His work is driven by wry, understated humour, finding the funny in recognisable situations, awkward moments and the small details of human behaviour – all delivered with a confident visual approach. Whether it’s a 30-second commercial or an entire series, Martin is drawn to character-driven stories, precise performances and humour with a slightly offbeat edge. His comedy rarely shouts – it tends to sneak up on you. Martin lives in Stockholm with his wife and kids and works across Scandinavia and beyond.
